Important information to help you set up your direct deposit, auto withdrawals and automatic loan payments.
To sign up for Direct Deposit into your checking account, all you’ll need to do is complete a simple form and attach a voided check. It is important that you have the correct nine-digit format for your account number on your form. The following information will help walk you through what you need, depending on the kind of deposit, withdrawal or loan payment you are making. In most cases, your payroll department can help you with the necessary paperwork. Once direct deposit has been activated, you can step out of line and enjoy your free time.

Effective Date
Please note that the nine-digit format will be required as of March 15, 2005. After this date, all direct deposit, auto withdrawal and automatic loan payment transactions presented in the incorrect account number format will be returned to the sender stating “invalid account.” This new format does not affect existing transactions if your deposit or loan is already set-up for direct deposit or payment (provided that the current transactions are using the correct account number format.)

Tax Information
It is important to use the correct nine-digit account number on your tax return paperwork to ensure that your refund is credited to the correct account. If the account number is not formatted correctly, your refund will be returned to the sender “invalid account.”

Ordering checks
If you order your checks from somewhere other than the Credit Union (Harland) be sure that the account number is listed in the nine-digit format. As of March 15, 2005, any check that is presented with the wrong account format will be returned “invalid account.”
