When a group of local teachers pooled their savings
into a single bank account so that other educators could
borrow money, the course was set. Assisting the educators
of the Vancouver area has been a proud tradition since
1940. Anxious to establish a plan for a brighter tomorrow,
a group of teachers here in Vancouver combined their
savings into a single account that would accrue valuable
interest, which would then be used to help other teachers
obtain unsecured, low-interest loans. At a time when
bank services weren’t designed for small savers
and borrowers, the teachers inspiring “helping
hands” approach created a viable financial opportunity
for those in need.
Over time, our educational core has gradually grown
— expanding first to include all school employees,
then to their families, then to select employee groups,
then to six S.W. Washington counties, and now to the
entire state of Washington.
That's why in April, 2004 a new name for Clark County
School Employees Credit Union was introduced —
a name that will better describe who we are today and
open new possibilities for growth in the future.
By selecting the name iQ Credit Union,
we embrace our past, while moving forward with a fresh
and vibrant new look. iQ Credit Union stands for financial intelligence and demonstrates our
continued commitment to the educational community.
